Personality: Generally speaking, Yasu is a laid back, happy-go-lucky, class-clown type of guys. He's actually surprisingly ordinary, even if he lacks a sense of personal space and timing. His interests include sports, video games, girls, and Youmu stalking watching. Okay, so maybe he's not completely ordinary after all, given his borderline unhealthy obsession with Youmu and all things related to them - like Spirit World Warriors. He is fascinated by them, and will go to extraordinary lengths to gather more intel on them. If he finds out that someone is actually either of these, he is liable to cling to them as if they were his best friend, firing questions at them as if his life depended on it. He's a pretty nice guy though, if you're able to put up with that, and a loyal friend.
Over the years, however, he has developed a certain... condition. You see he's not just interested in knowing more about the world outside of human knowledge, he's also had a long time dream of becoming a Spirit World Warrior himself. it's come to a point now where he's started convincing himself that he actually is a Spirit World Warrior, and that his powers have just not awakened fully yet. Whether this is due to some mental illness, or if he is really just that desperate to be involved in the world beyond the human eye is unknown, but it is most certainly dangerous.

History: Wakahise Yasu was born to two ordinary people - a florist and a police officer. As an only child, he was highly spoiled with both material goods and attention from his parents, within the boundaries set by their living conditions. He never really missed anything in his life, except for maybe adventure. As a child, Yasu had always had a lively imagination, which was why it wasn't all that suspicious when he began talking of strange creatures living alongside humans in this world. Since he was just a child, it was easy to mistake his ability to see Youmu for a mere game of pretend, or just a fantasy world in his own head, and thus it didn't raise any suspicions.

For Yasu, however, it grew more and more obvious that his parents, and most others around him, could not see these beings the same way he could. Which, lead him to stop talking about them with others. There was simply no point in discussing with others what they couldn't even imagine, and much less would be willing to believe as fact.

Considering that he had nobody to talk to about the things he could see, and that he seemed to be the only one with this ability - that he knew of - it wouldn't be that much of a surprise that he turned out the way he did. See, as his life went on, Yasu began telling himself that he some sort of special warrior, meant to discover the secrets of this world. Because, well, if Youmu existed, then it wouldn't be that far of a stretch to believe that maybe other things did too. This idea led Yasu to take interest in the occult, and the supernatural.

Religion became a means with which to learn more about beings that other humans claimed to have seen, or which were at some point believed to exist. Yasu was fascinated by these tales, and wondered if one day he would be remembered as a prophet or great hero.

When he was in Junior High, Yasu would go out and look for Youmu, observing them and recording their appearances by drawing them out - mind you, he is terrible at drawing, so it wasn't very accurate - and writing details down in his note book that he deemed important in regard to the creatures. He didn't get too close, because well, he figured that they might be dangerous... besides, some of them were pretty hard to get to.

However, as he grew more and more confident in himself with each day that passed, greatly nurturing his idea that he was some sort of special hero meant to fight these creatures, or something along those lines at least.

Due to this growing confidence in his childish idea, Yasu one day decided to attempt taking on a Youmu. It was a terrible idea, and Yasu didn't get off easy - thought it could have been much worse - and he now has the scar to remind him. He doesn't remember much from the incident, though.

Later on, when he has entered Senior High, he would learn about Spirit World Warriors. He still doesn't know their name, but had the pleasure of seeing some fight, but continuing to keep an eye on Youmu. And well, that's what his life is like now - finding out more about Youmu and Spirit World Warriors every day, in hoped of becoming one of these ultra strong people who fight the monsters in this world.
